Developed with team rider and three-time Olympian Ståle Sandbech, the new Oakley Team Collection features outwear, apparel, goggles, eyewear and a helmet, designed by Stale with style and function in mind. For the Norwegian snowboarder travel and adventure have always been a big part of his life and are the inspiration for the collection.
When travelling you don’t want to be lugging too much gear around and it’s important to have pieces that seamlessly transition from the mountain to the streets, so the apparel and accessories collection adapts to an on-the-go lifestyle through modular layering. With cinched bottom pants for less drag, premium stretch fabrics and two pieces made of 100% recycled materials, this is a comfortable and versatile collection.
For someone like Ståle , function and performance are crucial and the TC Gunn Shell jacket and bib pants are a good example. Not only do they look good, but they are technically top-end with 3-layer construction, a 20K waterproof/breathability rating and a made with a four-way stretch fabric. The jacket has a three-point hood adjustment system to keep the hood in place whether over your helmet or beanie.
The signature series Clifden sunnies is perfect for exploring the mountains or hitting the streets. The mountaineering frame is built to protect against the elements, featuring removable side shields and a bridge blocker for eye protection. The style merges Prizm Lens Technology with a sleek silhouette and colour combination. The frames come with a custom microbag featuring a skull and crossbones logo and the athlete’s signature.
The signature series Line Miner goggle is also available with the Lunar Rock graphic and Prizm Snow Dark Grey lenses, designed to provide the ultimate in peripheral vision, with a cylindrical-style design. With a large-sized fit, the Line Miner is optimized for a wide variety of faces and is engineered to fit perfectly with most helmets.
The MOD1 helmet features a graphic theme, “Lunar Rock,” which Sanbech says is inspired by exploration and finding new boundaries. A lightweight and low-profile design inspired the classic skate-style helmet, the MOD1 is available in three fits (Standard, Asian, and Youth) and delivers simplicity with premium functionality.
The 2L softshell jacket is a very cool looking piece, but is also technical with wiith a 20K waterproofing/breathability rating, Primaloft insulation and the BioZone lining system promotes moisture management and movement in key areas.
The Collection is completed by what Ståle calls the “travel kit” a comfortable fleece hoodie and pants which are made from Polartec eco-friendly microfleece created for 100% recycled materials and each piece consist of 24 plastic bottles.
For Ståle, the opportunity to be involved in the design of the Team Collection was something he has wanted to do for a long time and an extension of his long-term association with Oakley as a team rider.
“I’ve always been interested in design and all that, so this was a great experience, and I learned a lot through it. Hopefully, people will like what we’ve made. I’m excited.”
